When I right click on a file and hover over send to and click on compressed zip file, a zip file is created but the icon isn't like a directory (the default one) but like a WinRar file. When I run it, WinRar opens the file. I want the icon to look like a normal directory and the default program to open Zip files. Since installing 7Zip, I can't do this anymore. Instead, I get a number of 7Zip File Manager windows, apparently equal to the number of files I tried to open. (Which is strange in itself.) I can then open multiple files with a right-click from within 7Zip -- usually. So apparently, 7Zip wants to step in and take the place of Windows Explorer. I sometimes have to download many small RAR files, and just one time I opened one of the files from the downloads bar at the bottom. Now Edge opens every single file I download and it's driving me insane. I have to keep closing 7zip about ten times in one minute. Is there a way to stop this? EDIT: I am using the new Chromium based Microsoft Edge. There's nothing you can do in 7-Zip to prevent this. It is Chrome who downloads the file and opens it with its default application. At some point, Chrome was instructed to open ZIP files automatically after downloading. THis overrides the Ask where to save each file before downloading setting. There are at least three ways to revert this change. 1. I have a very large folder in Drive. When attempting to download entire folder, there's an automatic process to ZIP folder first. There's no option found to bypass this. My files within the folder are already compressed in another format. Regardless, this is a complete waste of time and I just want to download the folder from the browser as-is.
